Dependence and addiction does not just affect the patient, it affects their family and friends as well.
Most times, family and friends do not know what is necessary to help in the patient’s recovery. Thankfully, facilities offer programs that involve family therapy sessions as part of the treatment. There are also networking support groups for friends and families that offer assistance. Al-Anon.org, Nar-Anon.org, Coda.org and Adultchildren.org are just a few sites that present information to friends and families of those who are alcohol or drug dependent.
If more information is needed or there are any questions on how to find help, please give us a call today. We are always here to help you and your loved ones.

Treatment for dependency is just the first step toward recovery. After moving on from professional level care, it is important for patients to remain in communication with support groups. Staying connected to those who are going through the same thing will help patients manage their own situations.
It is important to find treatment facilities and after care programs that are devoted to structuring a community of prosperous alumni. If anyone were going to understand the struggles of recovery, it would be an alumnus. Alumni have successfully completed treatment, learned skills to aid in their recovery and know how to encourage others going through similar situations.
The path to recovery begins with the patient but continual progress and a successful recovery involves support from alumni, family and friends. Alumni programs provide encouragement, offer information and teach skills to enhance recovery.
Attempting to recover is hard enough; doing it alone is even harder. It is essential for those in recovery to stay in communication with and participate in the social network of former patients who are also managing their own situations. Alumni, friend and families can work together to enhance a patient’s recovery.
